Through working with under-achieving children in schools and in private tuition, I have become very interested in helping those with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dyscalculia to reach their full potential.

Over the past 2 years, I have attended several training courses run by the British Dyslexia Association to improve my knowledge and skills in this area.  My teaching methods make effective use of multi-sensory techniques, and I find that this benefits all children, but particularly those with dyslexia. For an insight into how I teach, please read my articles on Teaching Times Tables, Teaching Number Bonds and Teaching Spelling.

As well as building my knowledge and skills in terms of teaching, the BDA courses have included dyslexia screening.  Effective and professional screening is the first step towards providing people with dyslexia with the help and support they need to progress in their education, and I am delighted to be able to offer this service to schools.
